Harald Gaier

Harald Camillo Gaier (born 1938) is an Austrian-born British osteopath, homeopath, naturopath, herbalist, acupuncturist and author of the ''Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Homoeopathy'',〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Thorsons Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Homoeopathy: The Definitive Reference to All Aspects of Homoeopathy (Hardcover) )〕 former president of the British Naturopathic Association,
and founder of the General Naturopathic Council, which is a constituent member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
He came to the United Kingdom from Vienna, Austria in 1987 after having been invited by The Royal Society of Medicine (of which he is now a member) to contribute to their "Colloquia on Medicine and Complementary Therapies" that were held at 1 Wimpole Street, London between April 1984 and January 1987. There he delivered a paper entitled "Statutory Recognition of So-called Associated Health Service Professions: An Anomaly in Medical Politics".〔Sir James Watt, editor, Talking Health: Conventional and Complementary Approaches, London: The Royal Society of Medicine, 1988, pp 107-112〕
He is a proponent of naturopathic medicine, and his professional interests lie in the paradigm of natural therapeutics, as well as special interest in the economics of healthcare. In June 2002, he published original research relating to gastric acid production, pancreatic exocrine function and intestinal dysbiosis. He has served on the Research Committee of The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health and was medical research director at The Hale Clinic and The Diagnostic Clinic in London. Other published works include articles concerning the two strains of thought - empirical medicine and rationalist medicine - that have run through medical thought for the last three thousand years.
He is also on the editorial board of ''Proof!'' and ''What Doctors Don't Tell You'', which examine the validity of claims by natural medicine. He is also currently on the editorial advisory panel of the ''Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine''.
In June 2014 the Advertising Standards Authority (United Kingdom) upheld three complaints about his website; Gaier was warned that "his future advertising must not imply that he was a medical doctor".〔(ASA Adjudication on Dr Harald Gaier; 11 June 2014 )〕
